Meet our psychiatrists

Dr Vimal Sivasanker

With clinics in north and central London, Dr Sivasanker is a Consultant in adult psychiatry who has been involved in treating people with mental health problems since 2000.  He offers treatment for a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including depression, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder, and specializes in managing complex psychological problems such as bipolar affective disorder (manic depression) and psychosis.

Dr Sivasanker began his medical training at St Catharine’s College in Cambridge and worked initially in East London. He subsequently underwent higher training in Cambridge and East Anglia. During this time he worked extensively in inner city and rural areas and gained particular experience in his special interest of psychiatric intensive care.  He is currently a Consultant Psychiatrist in Luton at one of the country’s leading mental health NHS Foundation Trusts.

Dr Furhan Iqbal


Working in Cambridge, Dr Iqbal qualified as a doctor in 1995. He became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2002 and  moved to Cambridge to specialise in adult psychiatry and psychotherapy. He has worked as a consultant Psychiatrist in Cambridge since 2007.


Dr Iqbal has worked with some of the most eminent psychiatrists and psychologists in the UK and this depth and breadth of experience has formed the basis of his personal expertise. He was awarded the prestigious CLAHRC Fellowship to carry out research in collaboration with the Engineering Design Centre at the University of Cambridge. He teaches on the University of Cambridge psychiatry  course as well as having extensive experience of supervising professionals at all levels in psychotherapy.
